A few months ago my Maytag dryer started to make a little noise each time it would go around...kind of thump noise. I couldn't find anything wrong so I went ahead and kept using it. Since then, the problem has been getting worse so I took the lid off today and examined it again. I found a crack in the weld of my drum. Is this part available? Aren't parts like this from Maytag under a lifetime guarantee from defects of workmanship? I've attached a picutre. The crack is directly down the weld and appears to be a failure due to a poorly welded drum. If anyone knows the best route of repair then please let me know.

If you look close at the picture, you will see the crack extending from the outer edge of the drum down the weld and then it turns and heads toard the phillips screw head as a small hairline crack in the drum itself.

The drum is available. You will want to examine your warranty to see if it is still covered. Warranties have changed drastically in the last few years.

I would contact Maytag.
You may be able to get a drum for a lower price if it is not covered by warranty.

Many people have had this problem with stainless drums.
