The above is a washer & dryer, one unit stackable ( Laundry Center). It is Brand New. I just learned while installing it that the washer & dryer should not (Installation Instructions) be run at the same time because of the 3-wire 240 volt feed. The 120 volts needed for the washer is tapped off of the units 240 volt Neutral & Red Leg. I would like to connect the washer to a seperate 120 volt outlet and disconnect it from the 240 in the units terminal block, this way I can run the washer & dryer at the same time without any apmerage overload. All 2-unit stackables are wired this way. Is there any reason you would know of MECHANICALLY, that would prohibit using the above units, washer and dryer at the same time???

Hi Petmac

I am going to ask you to confirm with Frigidaire that you cannot run the washer at the same time with the dryer. Here is some contact info.

http://www.frigidaire.com/customersupport

I looked at the operating instructions and I did not see any such prohibition. On the installation instructions it says not to have a washer and a dryer on the same circuit, which make sense for separate units but not for yours, so I am wondering if this is the language you saw that lead you to your conclusion about operating simultaneously.

Manuals are not always written correctly, and I am wondering if the sentence about not putting on the same circuit is just boilerplate and just got in there from some other manual, and does not apply to your model.

Anyway, that being said I would not advise you to tamper with the internal wiring. The first thing that will happen is that it will void your warranty. If Frigidaire confirms that you cannot use them simultaneous, then I would advise taking that advice.

Well, let us know what you find out, I think you will find that you can operate them together and that the info in the installation manual was referring to hooking up separate units to the same circuit.

My research confirms the above. I can operate the washer & dryer at the same time. Thank You. petmac
