Dryer Repair

My dryer stopped working. The heat comes on but it won't tumble. I had a handyman look at the belt and he said it was still on and not broken. The night before it stopped working, I noticed the dryer itself was extremly hot. I bought this dryer new 8 months ago. I have a repairman coming but not for another week. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hard to be accurate without a model number, but possibly a blown thermal fuse. If the machine got hot enough to blow this fuse, you may also have an open thermostat. If replacing thermal fuse and/or thermostat, it's recommended that you go ahead and replace them all at the same time. Check the vent system for restriction or obstruction: this is one of the most common causes of overheating.

I would look for a shorted heater coil to the housing.
