Model Number: LDG8624AAE Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
My Maytag propane gas dryer will call for heat , the igniter will get hot (red), the gas will flow, the gas will ignite, and then in about 2-5 seconds the gas flow will cut off. If the dryer is left on, it will spin and cycle through this sequence repeatedly, but never really get hot.
What needs to be done to fix this? Thanks. Ads By Google Related Models |

The first thing I would do is check the vent all the way through the outlet and all air ducts inside the dryer, including the blower housing and the blower wheel.
Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for MAYTAG LDG8624AAE | AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.

Dryer is as clean as a whistle, including air ducts and vent pipes. Internal blower parts are also clean. Any more ideas? Last edited by bcdunmore : 07-18-2012 at 05:32 PM. |

Hi.
What do you mean: "the flame goes out"? Does it ever ignites again? Remove the vent hose from the dryer and run one load of laundry. See if that makes any difference. Thank you. Simon.

Hi.
Does the ignitor cycling on and off with out the flame? If it does - replace the gas valve. If not - check the flame sensor and hi-limit thermostat (both on the burner tube). Use the time dry not the auto, does it make any difference? Simon.

Replaced the coils and then the flame sensor. Flame still goes out aft less than one minute. Tried the time dry and auto dry, neither mattered. Any other options? |

Make sure the flame is being pulled through the burner assembly, if it's just going up and hitting the top of the burner box then you have an airflow issue. Check your blower wheel, if it spins on the shaft without turning the drum then it's worn out and will need replacing.
None of this may be it but i didn't see any mention of it yet and just trying to offer some other things to check. good luck. let us know what you find. |
