whirpool electric dryer is 6 years old It stopped heating-everything else works although the timer will go down but when it gets to cooldown setting it will not go any further to shut off and just keeps running

Again it will not heat at all it tumbles fine -the timer will go down and stop at cool down but will not advance to shut off

I would check #9 thermal cut-off in this diagram for your model dryer.
Check it for continuity with a ohm meter. If it's open or has no continuity then it needs to be replaced.

Same with the heating element, check it for continuity with a ohm meter.

any idea if i need these replaced what i am looking at total cost for repairman to come to home
