The dryer starts, heats and tumbles fine, but makes an AWFUL noise!. The noise is coming from the pulley from the motor. When I take the belt off the pulley and turn it by hand the sound is very obvious. Is this the sign of the motor going out? Should I just run the dryer till the motor just gives out, or is there something I can do now to fix this? Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!!!!

Yes, sounds like your bearings are going.

There is really nothing that will fix it other than replacing the motor.
You could try oiling the bearings to get some extra life out of it.
Do not use WD40 as this will only last a day or two, 3in1 oil or similar should do. Also do not go crazy with the oil as it will hold lint.
If the bearing supports are shot then oiling will do nothing, see below link.

Note: I can almost guarantee that if you leave it, it will fail when you need it most. Also there is a possibility that it could blow the thermal fuse when it eventually goes and this would then cost you extra dollars.

Thank you so much for all your help! Any idea where to find a good refurbished or used motor. The ID plate says L2N 5 or 10 amp motor? This unit is in a rental property so I don't want to spend much money.

Thanks again for your expertise!
