My dryer makes a humming noise when start button is push. This is the first time we had any problems with dryer.

I am assuming that it hums but will not start and that the humming is coming from the motor.

First, mannually turn the drum to make certain it is not jammed or hung up so that it does not turn.

If the drum turns, try this test. With another person, open the door and have that person depress the door switch. Then push the start button and manually turn the drum. If it starts up, then the likely culprit is the motor which will have to be replaced.
