Model Number: LFE7800W1 Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I replaced a broken heater coil, and hi limit t stat (342764) with a new one (279054) connecting the blue wire to Terminal #1 and the red wire to Terminal #3 as per instructions. Now the timer works in Timed mode but not automatic mode unless I pull the wires on the t-stat (no heat obviously). According to other posts, the problem is the Tstat (most likely) or the resistor on the timer. (My wife swears automatic dry worked before, could the hi temp stat not be working?)
How do I test to determine if the resistor on the timer (4.9 ohms) or the t-stat is the problem (0 ohms across terminals), or the hi temp t stat is at fault? Now, also, even in "air Fluff" mode, the heater is always on irregardless of timed or automatic/permanent press setting for thermostat. I have checked heater coil NOT touching heat box, (220v) and approx 11 ohms. No continutity from either heater coil terminal to heat box. Should I cut my losses and stop wasting time, buy a new one?? Thank you. Charles. Ads By Google Related Models |
