Model Number: PYE2000AYW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Electric Maytag Performa dryer, about 7 or 8 years old has started making odd noises on start-up. A week ago it started making a loud thud when as the drum reached full speed.
Now, when you hit the start button, it makes a rattle like something is loose and spinning, then the drum starts turning, then it makes the loud thud then runs fine. (all of this takes about 2 seconds). Other than these noises at start-up it runs fine, heats, drys, does everything like it should. Any ideas what could be happening or about to break? |

Thanks richappy, it turned out to be the blower wheel. The hub of the wheel was completely rounded out. Replaced it and the dryer runs much quieter now.
