The electric dryer starts and heats up for about 5 minutes, but then shuts off. Will not start again until it cools down.

I have been cleaning dryer and vent hose quarterly.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi,

There is a over load on the motor that maybe getting hot and killing power to the motor. Once it cools down the over load would reset by itself and then you would be abel to start the dryer again.

I would run it until it quit then take it apart so I could check the motor to see if it's hot. The over load could also be ohm out to see if it's open if you have a multimeter.
