Dryer won't start and makes humming sound when any cycle is selected
Model Number: 11064852400 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
What is wrong with my dryer when the timer makes a ticking sound when it is turned off and makes a louder hum when the timer is set to a cycle? Also when the timer is set to a cycle the heating element kicks in, however nothing happens when the start button is pushed. I have replaced the timer and electronic control board. Testing the thermal fuse with multileter show thermal fuse is still good. Should I replaced the thermostat and heating element. Plus timer ticks even when dry cycle is set to off

Sounds like you have a bad motor. The motor switch must also be stuck for it to heat without the motor running, very unsafe.
