I do not have a wiring diagram for this unit so the below is what is usual.

It is just a 3.7 kilohm (approximately) resistor.

When in Timed dry mode the timer gets 120 volts from the power in (half the line voltage)
When the unit is in Auto mode, the timer motor gets power from the heating element when the element is turned off. This voltage is 240 volts, the resistor lowers the voltage to 120 volts which is what the timer motor requires.
