I have a Kenmore gas dryer, model 110.72842100 (I don't know why there is no reference for this model number on appliancepartspros.com - it can be found on searspartsdirect.com). If the dryer has not been used for a day, or so (I assume only long enough for it to completely cool to room temperature), it will heat, and dry one load of laundry. After drying one load, it will not heat to dry another load until it has been left unused for a day, or so. I know nothing about electrical circuits, and have no test tools. I assume that since the dryer still heats sporadically, the problem is not a fuse. My next assumption is that the problem is a thermostat. The problem I encounter at this point is that a parts search for a thermostat for this dryer indicates that it has two. (I found the parts numbers on searspartsdirect.com, then searched for them on appliancepartspros .com.) One is a T - stat, hi - limit, the other is a Dryer cycling thermostat.

Do I replace both of these, or only one? Or, am I completely off base with my assumptions?

Well, assuming that your dryer will run after the first time, but just not heat I am going to say that you are probably, but not absolutely certainly off base on the thermostats. You can test them for continuity after a first run (unplug the machine first!!) and that will tell you for sure if they are open or not.

I would suggest the problem is in your gas system, and I recommend you review others posts on this site (since I am not a gas man) and make the repairs based on what you learn.
