My Whirlpool Dryer will not get hot and I am curious what part I need to order to fix it and how to fix the problem

Take off the back and check this sucker for continuity

Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LGR5848EQ6 | AppliancePartsPros.com

If that is not it, check all of the other thermostats and fuses back there. Also use the opportunity to thoroughly clean out the dryer and the venting system.

If that is not it, the problem is likely in your gas burner system.

I changed the Thermal Fuse and the dryer finally ignited and now the burner only runs for about 1 minute and kicks off and will not turn back on

Sounds like the thermal fuse was part of the problem, so you have fixed that part.

I am not a gas man (yeah, I know that sounds funny) so look at some of the other posts with gas dryers with your problem. I think you will find some guidance.

Sorry I cannot help on the gas end (yeah, I know that sounds fund). Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Sounds like a clogged vent, which is most likely the reason the thermal fuse went. Pull the dryer vent hose off, and run it, and see if it runs longer. Pull the dryer away from the wall some, so the air can freely escape. Tom www.applianceeducator.com:cool:
