Default Dryer no longer runs.
Model Number: REX3615EW1   Brand: Roper   Age: More than 10 years

Hi, my dryer stopped running. Not sure what needs to be replaced. When you push the "Start" button, the dryer never starts running. I cleaned out all the electrical stuff to see if that may have been the issue, but it is still not running. Any thoughts on what may be wrong and parts needed? Thanks!

If you have power to the unit check the thermal fuse. It is located on the vent housing in the unit. Unplug the unit first and then disconnect one wire to it. Now check for continuity. If none replace. You can jumper around it to test. After jumpering, with the door closed, select a dryer setting and push the start button. Does it run now? If so replace the fuse, if not test the door switch in the same manner.

Assuming there is power to the dryer the first thing I would check is the start switch (# 39 on the top and console break down diagram) and then the door switch (# 10 on the cabinet parts break down diagram). Using a simple meter check the start switch for continuity (it should be closed when pushed in) and the door switch (it should be closed when the door is closed).
Good luck.
Gene.
