OK here goes Maytag Neptune Gas dryer will groan when the start button is pushed. Under no load it will start and spin. Under a load it will not start and just groan. I taped door button shut and pressed on button and helped it to start under a load and it works so far. I am guessing I should wd40 everything and pray the motor does not fail?

You just might be hearing the lower wheel slipping on the motor shaft as it starts to spin.

Part number: AP4043082

part number is not valid, but does that mean that this lower wheel attaches to motor with say a set screw and just replace this lower wheel and we may be ok

Click on your posted model number and you'll get redirected to the parts breakdown drawings. The blower fan attaches to the motor shaft with a clip and a clamp. These sometimes loosen up and start to spin freely on the motor shaft. Before you notice anything's wrong, you might even notice that your clothes are taking longer to dry.
