Maytag MDG6400AWW Ignitor + other?
Model Number: MDG6400AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Maytag MDG6400AWW runs, however NO heat.
can hear the click of the coil(s)? when dryer starts and stops. subsequent ohm tests confirm that Thermal Fuse and Flame sensor are okay. However ignitor shows open circuit and no resistance. Based upon this I have not checked Hi Limit or Cycling thermostat or the coils. My question is would it be prudent to go ahead and order additional items for potential future replacement, such as the Thermal Fuse or Coils or one or more thermostats? I am aware of Part Number: AP3109449 for Ignitor. $18.** suggestion(s)? Ads By Google Related Models

The igniter should be sufficient. You can confirm this if you want to do a voltage test: While the dryer is calling for heat, look for 120VAC at the igniter. If you have it, the thermal fuse and thermostats are good.
I would only replace the coils if you have experienced flame failure after the dryer runs for about 20 minutes. (The igniter will still glow; but the gas stops coming in).
