I am replacing the motor in the dryer, I am having trouble getting the fan to unscrew from the shaft, are there any tricks to keep the shft from spinning while I am trying to remove the fan?

Hold the motor pulley securely and unscrew the blower wheel from the motor shaft. It has right hand thread. You can use a 7/8", 6 point socket to aid in the removal of the blower wheel.
Gene.
