When I bought my house 5 months ago, it came with the washer and dryer so I don't know the history of the dryer I am asking about. It has bee running just fine until two days ago. The drum has stopped turning. When I set the timer dial and push it to start it, it sounds as though it is trying to turn. The light inside the drum works when I open the door. So, power is present in all places. The drum just will not turn. I would open it up to see what could be the problem but I don't know where (back or front) to look. I don't know how to open it up or what to look for!!!! Please help!!! I am a single mom with two boys!!! I went to the laundromat for way to long to get to this!!!!!:( khandchris

Unplug the dryer.

In the space between the front panel and dryer top, insert a putty knife, or similar tool; 2 to 4 inches from each corner, and push in against a spring catch. At the same time, lift up on the corresponding corner of the top and it will release.

What you'll likely see is the drum (tumbler), and a clearly visible line where the (now broken) belt used to be.

You can then remove the front panel by removing two screws that attach it to the cabinet; but you'll first need to disconnect the wires to the door switch, so they don't break as you remove the front.

Click on the link for the replacement belt, and you'll also see a diagram of how it is supposed to be threaded around the motor pulley and tensioner, when you install it.
