Hi. I have a Roper REX 4635EQO dryer. Not too long ago the unit quit working. I did a little home style troubleshooting and figured out that a therrmal fuse had blown. I figured that the lint trap (which was seriously covered) may have caused this. I got a new fuse locally and installed it. The same thing happened a couple months later. I jumped the fuse and forgot about it (BIG MISTAKE) just the other day my wife started the dryer and there was a noise and some smoke and it shut off. I checked behind the unit and there is some evidence that something overheated and singed some wires. Is there any way I can check to see if this can be repaired?

You have to take the dryer apart and inspect all parts and wires. All burned wires can be replaced with the same size of wires. Clean all air ducts and the air chute. Replace the thermal fuse, the high limit thermostat (#15 on the diagram) and the cycling thermostat (#24). Make sure the vent line outside the dryer is clean all the way to the outlet.
