Trys to spin, but won't
Brand: Sears Age: 5 - 10 years
HI THERE, I HAVE A SEARS ELECTRIC DRYER. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I REPLACED THE DRIVE MOTOR. NOW THE MOTOR SEEMS TO TURN BUT WHEN YOU PUT MORE THAN A FEW ITEMS IN THE DRYER IT DOESN'T WANT TO SPIN THE DRUM. I HAVE TO TAKE MOST OF THE CLOTHES OUT, HOLD THE SAFETY SWITCH AND MANUALLY TURN THE DRUM BY HAND UNTIL IT STARTS TO GO ON ITS OWN. IS IT THE MOTOR AGAIN OR THE BELT (I ALSO REPLACED THE BELT WHEN I REPLACED THE MOTOR. YOUR THOUGHTS?

You have to disassemble the dryer and inspect the belt and the motor. What is the complete model number of the dryer?

MODEL 3110.60832990. Disassembly and back together is the easy part. Done it several times. Since the motor is only about 1 year old, the only other moving parts are the belt, tension pully and the roller guide. Sometimes I find the drum out of align and have to take it apart and put it back together again. Could the belt be stretched? Thanks Phil

You have to inspect all moving parts. Also make sure the belt goes around the idler and the motor pulleys as shown on the diagram.
