Model Number: LE7685xpno Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
Okay so the wet clothes are starting to pile up and my wife wants to get a new dryer. I am convinced I can fix this old one but I have come to a brick wall.
The dryer was working fine until one day she loaded it, push the start button and it just buzzed at her, the drum did not rotate. If you hold the button down it will buzz for about 6 seconds then go out completely. Won't buzz at all. After a few hours though it will work again but only buzzing. I took it apart, thanks to this website, and found that it will run again once the drum and belt are off. Then it will run with the drum back on, but once we put clothes in it will just buzz at us. Do I have to replace a fuse, or the whole motor? thanks for any reply. Ads By Google Related Models |

Here are your parts. I could not find a xpn0, the following is for a xpw0 but it should be the same.
Replacement parts for LE7685XPNO models | AppliancePartsPros.com What is happening is that the motor is overheating and tripping it's internal thermal protect. You then have to wait until the motor cools down and the thermal protect resets before it will start again. Probably the motor is shot. But could be that there is too much load on the motor. Check the front drum supports, the rear drum rollers, the idler wheel etc. If all look OK replace the motor. Also a good time to check the drum seals, any internal air flow seal, the belt etc. Might as well give it an overhaul while you are at it. Give the interior a good cleaning, including the blower wheel. Also a good time to check/clean your vent system.
