Can someone tell me what is wrong with my dryer? It quit altogether in the middle of a load. At first, I thought it just wasn't getting any power because the light inside isn't coming on either. But the timer is still ticking. I checked the circuit breaker and it wasn't tripped. Naturally, the warranty recently expired.

It sounds like the thermal fuse is blown. This happens when there is an overheat situation, such as when there is poor air flow. If it's the thermal fuse, you'll have to replace it. They can't be reset.

In the mean time, look for clogged or restricted vent. It needs to be clear from the dryer all the way to the outside of the house.

Where is this part located on the dryer? We found a part that looked similar but I'm not sure that its what we need. The part number for what we found is 53-0771.
