hello! I bought a roper dryer model RED4440VQ. well it does not shut off! In any setting! now heres the thing i have returned it and the new one did the same thing! also i have moved it from it original location to a new area...the vent is a little higher than the actual dryer...does that matter!? Thanks in advance!

By any setting I assume you mean both Auto and Timed Dry cycles.

No. All that matters is that the vent system is clean and the outside vent louvers open.

I would say that you have a house wiring problem.
Check that you have the correct power at the plug.
L1 to L2 = 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral = 120 volts.

Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. It is not uncommon to loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.

Note: the timer on this unit is 240 volts. In Timed Dry, it is powered directly from the 240 through one set of timer contacts, see the wiring diagram it shows the unit in Timed Dry mode.
Since it is highly unlikely that 2 new units have the same problem, I am leaning towards a house wiring problem.

I would say that you have a house wiring problem.

i dont under stand...im sorry kinda new...i have a four wire plug there are 3 screws .....starting from far left i have the black one, in the middle i have the ground from the dryer and the white together, and far right is red wire, the forth ground wire is attached the the ground right on the dryer.....

Is this at the terminal strip in the dryer?
Did you put the 4 wire line cord on the unit?
If you are putting on a 4 wire line cord the ground strap from Neutral to the machine's frame must be removed because the unit is now grounded through the separate ground in the line cord. This of coarse assumes that the wall plug is properly wired for a 4 wire hook up.

You may want to get an electrician or a friend with some electrical knowledge and a meter to check the wiring set up.

Black = L1
Red = L2
White = Neutral
Bare copper/green = Ground

Thanks! I will remove it right away...ok so i thought it was the vent thing so i turned the dryer side ways so the vent was strait out and the timer still didnt move??? thanks for all your help!!!
