Model Number: LTE5243DQ0 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Hi
I have a Whirlpool stackable washer/dryer. Model # LTE5243DQ0. The timer wasn't working in any setting (automatic or timed) so I replaced the very expensive timer last night. We ran two loads and it worked fine. But this morning, a VERY loud buzzing sound won't stop buzzing in any setting, other than off. So I can't even turn the dryer on to dry my clothes without the loud buzzer on the whole time. Help??? Jen Ads By Google Related Models |

Well, assuming you are talking about the end of cycle buzzer I would just open up the console and disconnect one wire from it. This should not interfere with the operation of the machine.
You won't have the buzzer tell you when the cycle is over, but I doubt if this is a major loss and certainly preferable to the noise. Good luck.

Unfortunately, it's not the exact same as the end of cycle buzzer. But it is just as loud and irratating. Also, an update: the loud "buzzing" remains on during all of the cycles, except the timed cycle. If I put the dial / knob to say 40 minutes, the buzzing is loud, until I push start. Then the dryer can dry normally. But any of the other settings, it is extremely loud even when pushing start. ??? |

Ok, thanks for getting back, but this right now is a mystery noise. Noises are about the hardest thing to diagnose from a remote site, but let's give it a try.
We need to know where the noise is coming from. With the power off, you should remove the transition panel, the toe panel and let the console come down. Then being VERY CAREFUL you should plug the machine back in and be able to determine exactly where the noise originates. Do this only enough to locate the source of the buzz, then shut it down, return the machine to normal, and dry on timed until we figure this out. Post your result and let's see what we have. Thanks

Thanks so much for your help. I just did what you suggested. The loud noise is definitely coming from the timer control. (I pushed the Start button a few times and can actually see something move and that's a different sound.) And I was wrong about just the one cycle. The loud buzzing stops after I push start for two cycles, the Fluff Air and the Timed, so from about 3-9 o'clock on the dial. |

Ok, good
Seems like all you have to do is take/send the timer back from whence it came and tell the people who sold it to you that you want one that does its work quietly as it is supposed to. Good luck and let us know if a replacement fixes the problem.

I have the same model w/d, and would be interested in disabling the end of cycle buzzer. Could you expand more on how to do this?

On the back of the console there should be five or six 1/4" hex head screws that hold the cover plate on. Take them off, and you will have access to the console components. Unhook a wire from the buzzer and you should be all set.
