Model Number: KEYS850gt0 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a Kitchen aid suberba dryer. I read a couple of forums and made sure the unit was clog free before posting. No such luck. It takes way to long to dry. I checked for the heating element to have non working coils. I did look and see only half working. The thing i find confusing is that the only way the coils come on is when the dryer is stopped, and the timer is still on ( open the door in the middle of the cycle) This unit comes with the moisture sense dry. Could this be any easy fix ? The heaing element is 50.00- 60.00...

Check to see if the heating coil hasn't been shorted and touching ground (meaning the coil touching the metal casing). That would cause the heater to be on even when the dryer is off and the timer in the on position. If that's the case, replace heater.
