Question Dryer on Frigidaire Combo won't do anything
Model Number: FLSE60RGS1   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
I've had this Frigidaire combo(washer/dryer) for almost 3 years. It came with the house I bought. It didn't work when I first got it so I changed the motor and nothing. I let it sit for about 2 years then I thought I'll try to fix it. I put a new push start switch and timer in it and it ran great for about a month. It started making rattling sound. It was the drum moving. So I put on a new rear bearing and it was still rattling, but would only start if I pushed on the inside. I just replaced the felt on the dryer and it came on for less than a second. I change the motor back to the original one and still didn't do anything. I checked the thermal limiter and got either .001 Ohms out of it. I also checked high limit thermostat and got something around .500 Ohms. I had the multimeter set on 2000 Ohm setting.

What should I look for now? Washer still works fine.

You say it would only start when you pushed on the inside. Can you give us a more detailed description of what you were doing, where you were pushing etc.

It may be that with all of your work on the machine you have a loose connection or broken wire. That is the area I would certainly start with.

Good luck, let us know if you find something.

Before I replaced the felt seal, I could push the door switch and the start button and push on the inside of the drum to get it to go.

I have a wiring diagram of the dryer and just don't know what else to check. I also tried by passing the door switch and still wouldn't do anything. No noises, no movements, nothing.

You are going to have to check continuity in all of the switch circuits and check your fuses/thermostats again. The problem you discribe just sounds very much like a broken circuit some where, either from a switch or from a broken wire or a disconnected wire. Use you wiriting diagram to trace the circuits and test each wire for continuity. You may have a break inside the wire insulation that you cannot see. Also check to make certain no exposed wire in a circuit is accidentally grounded against the cabinet.

Ok, I am still not sure how you pushed on the inside of the drum to get it going since the door would have to be open to do this, but if it worked . . .

I know this was months ago. I finally got around to checking everything again. I checked the resistance on all the thermostats, door switch, start button, and the timer. All of those checked out fine just like the diagram said. I have 240 at the outlet. I've also swapped out motors. I still don't get any movements or sounds from the dryer. The washer still works fine. What else should I look for?
