Default Kenmore elec dryer
Model Number: 110.86670100   Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

Need help for kenmore 11.86670100-6697 please.

Is there a electrical diagram for dryer inside cabinet? Where and how do I get at it?
If not-- where can I get electrical diagram online?
Major complaint is that dryer drys at same temp no matter what setting of 3 position temp control switch.
Got continuity on heating element and visually see no evidence of any shorting.
Got continuity on:
- thermal cutoff thermostat
- 3 position temp control switch ( get 3 differnt ohm readings in 3 positions )
- cycling thermostat
- cycling thermostat pre-heater connected to 3 position temp control switch.

Trying to check cycling thermostat preheater assemby for correct resistance. PN 61894
What should ohms be for preheater?

I would be pleased to get your wisdom on this matter

Could not find any info on your unit.

If the wiring diagram is anywhere it will be inside the control console?

The cycling thermostat is usually between 5500 to 8500 ohms.

If you have only high heat it could be you are running on the Hi Limit Thermostat and the cycling thermostat's contacts are welded closed.
Remove it, I usually just heat the face up with a soldering gun to see if it will open. You could also put it on a stove element.

Do not know about the wisdom part but hopefully the above will help.

Denman,

Thanks for your prompt reply

The only parts diagram I have shows 2 of the same adjustable themostats to be used for high limit and low limit-- ( one to be set at 155 deg and one to be set at 135 deg ). On my dryer I have only one cycling thermostat which must serve to cycle between high ( 155?) and low 135?) temps. I have continuity on the single cycling thermostat and I will check the resistance ( which I would think would somehow be different as my cycling thermostat serves voth as high and low). The original question I asked was about the resistance readin for the "cycling thermostat pre-heater" which is a separate divice which fits around my single cycling thermaostat. I have continuity on it and can check what resistance is but I was trying to find out what the correct resistance for the pre-heater was.

Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Thermostat, part number: 61894

I do not work for AppliancePartsPros so emails will not reach me.
Just reply on this post.

I should have called this a cycling thermostat preheater.

On a dryer all thermostats (contacts) should be 0 ohms at room temperature.

The original question I asked was about the resistance readin for the "cycling thermostat pre-heater" which is a separate divice which fits around my single cycling thermaostat. I have continuity on it and can check what resistance is but I was trying to find out what the correct resistance for the pre-heater was.
