Model Number: MDG8400AWW Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Turned the dryer on and they wet/dry sesor got real bright and the dryer poped the breaker. I thought I messed up the "timer" on the dryer and purchased a 33002855 timer after calling to verify the correct part... Place the timer in the dryer and the sensor nor the timed dry works... did the power surge blow something else.. Looking for advice on what might be the problem

Jeff,
I would suspect the chime/sensor board. You can find all instructions in the Service manual. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDG8400AWW | AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.
