The auto sense drying mode is notoriously filled with problems. My opinion is that it is more of a marketing gimmick then a true contributing part of the machine.

Does it operate normally in the Time Mode?

No it does not.......what i have noticed throught the peep hole on front of dryer is that igniter glows orange....then blue flame turns on.... but this is not consistent. intermittently flame goes out and igniter only lights orange....no flame....this is even on high heat.........could it be the solenoid coils(2 and 3wires) ? also how does one get to and check these coils?

it is almost more of a problem on any high heat setting.

Hi Longneck

When you get into the gas mechanics you are entering an area that is beyond my area of comfort, so I am going to use this post to ask some of the other techs on this site to respond to you.

Good luck

There are two things which I would take care of.

1. Replace the gas valve coils (## 13 & 14 on the diagram)

2. Make sure the vent line is clean all the way to the outlet and the air ducts and the blower housing inside the dryer are clean.

- The part number for the coil kit is AP3094251

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL RGX5634KQ2 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Gene.

Default How To

Is easy to get two but need help to hold lid.
Take a pry bar or small screwdriver. Pry top lid from the front panel.
there is a snap/clip on front left and right (not visible.)
when you pick up top lid have someone hold it up while you loosen 2 screws from inside by drum, one on each side.
MAKE SURE to UNCLIP latch connector on rt side......while someone is still hloding top pull front cover from its top towards you and lift up.
The coil pack is in bottom left corner......prop or hold drum in upright position and a stubby phillips works fine.
