Have a whirlpool imperial serises electric dryer that quit heating abruptly but otherwise seems to function fine. I've checked the thermostats and fusiable link and they appear OK. I metered the heater box and got no reading at all from either of the two wires that appear to be the heating element leads. Any ideas?

Here is your parts breakdown.

Sounds like you have found the problem.
The heating element should measure around 10 ohms.
If an open (infinite ohms) it is burned out.
