Default maytag 3 lamp display bds shorting out
Model Number: mdg8400 awq   Brand: Maytag   Age: 1 - 5 years

I have been fighting this problem since last July '07. It started when the original 3 lamp display bd shorted out. This board controls the dryness when the Intelli- dry is used. Moisture sensor. I replaced the board in July, but the dryer didn't completely dry the loads. I went through the dryer, new vent, gas coils, thermostats, nothing seemed to help. That board eventually failed, in November I replaced it again, this time the dryer worked like new.......for 2 1/2 weeks, then that bd failed. I ordered a new timer and another bd. This time when I powered the dryer up, the board blew immediately. I checked the wiring harness for any exposed wires etc.
I am at wits end with this. Has anyone had problems getting defective parts for Maytag/ Whirlpool? I tried to get a service manual, but no luck.
Is there any other component that interacts with this board othe than the timer and the sensor bars inside the dryer. HELP
