Model Number: LDE7800 Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
We gotten a generous 35 years our of this workhorse Whirlpool dryer and hopefully we can get lots more! (it's true they don;t make them like they used to!)
So it runs but does not heat. We saw a similar post of a newer dryer and the recommendation to check Part#279816. (if that is the suggestion here. We'd be happy to but the image of that unit showed it as part number 1. Only problem is we can;t make out which is part $1 in the picture, if a similar pic is used on this forum. Last, if it is not Part#279816, and that checks ok, what are the second and third and 4th things to check? No doubt the element and thermostat are possibilities. Thanks, and here's to 35 more~~~ ok how about another 5? Ads By Google Related Models |

Your dryer is way too old to have a part like 279816. Its a thermal fuse kit and dryers that old never had them.
At the age this dryer is, it could be almost anything keeping it from heating. I'd start with checking the voltage to the dryer. Make sure you have 240 volts to the terminals on the back. Then I'd check the element for continuity (with it unplugged). Then I would check the Cutoff mounted on the side of the heater tube for continuity. Then I would check the T-stat for continuity. Then I would check the timer contacts for continuity. You could also have a bad wire someplace or a bad start switch on the motor. Lots of possibilities. I'll warn you right now, the timer is probably not available. |
