This dryer ran with no heat and no ignitor glow when I received it. The flame sensor showed no continuity, so I replaced it and the dryer ran perfectly for only a week.

Now the ignitor warms up and glows continuously for as long as I let the dryer run, but the gas valve never opens. The new flame sensor still shows continuity, but I'm guessing that doesn't guarantee it's working properly. Is there anything other than the flame sensor that can cause this?

The flame sensor is actually a temperature switch which senses the igniter temperature and switches the power from the igniter to the gas valve coils to open the gas to the burner. According to your description the flame sensor you installed does not work properly. You have to talk to people who sold it to you and they have to exchange it under the part warranty.

The flame sensor is actually from appliancepartspros, but I'm having doubts now about it being an issue, because I get the exact same behavior if I pull a wire off and leave it completely open. The ignitor still glows nonstop.

The wiring diagram for the dryer shows the flame sensor and two valve coils connected in parallel, and the main coil is reading zero resistance when I test it. If that coil is toast, is it possible that it's bypassing everything else?

If the coil is shorted then this is the culprit. No doubt about it.

Just to confirm it, the ignitor does turn off at the correct time when I run it with the main coil disconnected. I'll be sure to update when the replacement is in.

Update - back up and running with a new main coil. Thanks again for the help.
