Model Number: MDE6000AYW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Have put new timer in and doesn't clock. Assumed it was bad, so i got a second one. It clocked once when I installed & then didn't work.t work again. Is there something that can be killing the timer?

When you say it would not shut off do you mean:
It went past the Off position and continued to run OR The timer would not advance And what is the problem with the current timer. Do you have a meter, if you do start a timed dry cycle measure the voltage across the timer motor. Be careful there is 240 volts in the control console which is very dangerous.

Only thing I can see that could cause this is the Electronic Dryness Control board OR a broken wire/poor connection.
Cannot find any decent info on this board but the Neyutral side og the timer does go through it. With the unit unplugged. On a low resistance scale (200 ohms) Measure from the Neutral to the red wire on the Dryness control. Should go to 0 ohms, when the Push TO Start is pressed.
