Is their anything to check on the motor to tell if somthing is wrong with it. The shaft has some play to it, in and out. Is their something else that could be loose or fixed.Dont no if you can replace the bearings in it or not. Any suggestions would be great. thanks

What are the symptoms that point you to the motor? It is not a servicable part any more. A little end play on the shaft is normal. Part number: AP4029141

If it hums, it's most likely the motor, especially if it stops on occasion. Idler wheels usually give an obnoxious high-pitched squeal when they are bad.
The motor may be shutting off on a "thermal overload". This would be evidenced by restarting after a "cool-down" period. A rarer malfunction is a bad spot in the motor windings
In either case, it may be a good idea to replace the motor.

Thanks for the advice. thats what i was thinking. is it going to hurt anything by still running it or will it mess something up, beside stopping and catching on fire. i dont use it unless im home so may be that want happen. just dont want to mess something else up and have to buy that to along with a motor.

Any time an electric motor stops and hums, there is a possibility of fire. Watch it closely. The dryer is the most flamible of our domestic appliances, because of the lint it produces.
