Gas dryer runs fine, but the burner doesn't ignite. Would like to know what to check first, and how to open the cabinet to access it.

If you take the back off the dryer, you will see a white thin part called a thermal fuse. It will have 2 wires coming to it. Take the 2 wires off, and put the terminal ends together, and put some tape around it, so it does not hit metal, and then plug the dryer back in and give it a try. If it works, do not run the dryer like that, this is for testing only. If it does not work, we need to know if the ignitor comes on. If not, it could be the ignitor or the flame sensor, which is mounted on the side of the flame tube. Tom ********************************************

Thanks for the reply. I found the thermal fuse, and confirmed that the burner will light when it's bypassed. Also found a nice note from KitchenAid that says if the thermal fuse is blown, be sure to also check the "operating thermostat". I'd like to do that to see if it's the root cause, but not sure which one it is. There's a thermostat on the burner housing (that feeds hot air into the drum), and another one the blower housing next to the thermal fuse. Any idea which one they mean?

The one on the blower housing. As cheap as it is, just replace it. Tom
