This dryer has stopped firing up the igniter by simply pushing the dial (start button) in for a moment as before.
In testing the igniter circuitry for power, I saw that 120 volts was applied momentarily while I held the selector dial in to start it. So I had my wife hold in the button while I watched. Sure enough, the igniter fired up, and the gas started flowing and the dryer behaved normally.
So the dryer will start and work properly only if I hold the dial (start) in for about 20 seconds...to allow the igniter to get hot and the valve circuitry to function. Everything else works fine. Is there some small part I can buy to keep the voltage applied for the proper timing? This is a good, but old dryer and I just need it to hang on for a few months...so it isn't worth putting a lot of money into...it is just a pain to have to hold it in for so long...or forget and come back to wet clothes. Thanks!
