Default Dryer leaks and smells
Model Number: LEA5OAW   Brand: Amana   Age: 5 - 10 years

Recently, we moved the dryer - just pulled it forward to get something that had fallen behind it - and put it back. But the dryer hose to the outside came off of the dryer. Since it was long enough to do so, I cut part of it off and clamped the hose back on to the dryer. Since then, the dryer leaks a small amount of water each time it is used. (Yes, I am positive it is the dryer and not the washer.) And it has a distinct odor. Funny, I remember my mom's dryer smelling like this when I was little. What is going on? Any help would be very much appreciated - hopefully something we can do ourselves. Thank you!

Gene has much to be proud of
Default

Most likely the problem with your dryer is a clogged vent inside the wall.
Restricted air flow caused all moister to stay inside the dryer, accumulated and dripping out.

Disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and run a few loads with the hose being disconnected and you will see a difference.

Gene.
