Adam,

Where does the noise seem to be coming from, the front or back of the cabinet ?

A good indication of a bad blower wheel, when you open the door, or the machine stops, you'll hear a rumbling noise for a second or so, and it may make a similar noise at the very start of the cycle.

Part number: AP4062362

Part number: AP4062362

If the noise is present during the complete cycle, and there's no noise when the dryer stops, it a very good chance, the drum rollers are worn out and need repalcement.

Part number: AP4046756

Part number: AP4046756

Besides, when you start the teardown procedure, you'll get to the blower assembly, before you get to the rear roller assemblies.

Thanks,

Good Luck,

i think the noise is coming from the rear which would be the rollers. they look fine when i took it apart but i didn't take the drum off so may be they might be worn in a few places.thanks for the advice.

Adam,

Good deal.

You do need to remove the drum and rollers, to get a "proper" look at the roller bearing interior surface, and the condition of the roller shaft, as well.

You'll do fine.

Good Luck,

Default Removing front panel from Amana Model ALG 443 RAW Gas and Electric Dryer

I found the following directions on this forum to help install

a Drum Support Roller Part Number:AP4046756

into a Amana Model ALG 443 RAW Gas and Electric Dryer

"You will need to raise the top of the dryer, and remove the screws holding the front panel in place. "

I can't access the screws that hold the front panel in place. I was able to lift the top, but could not reach any screws after that.

Does anyone know how to get to those screws?

Mabbit,
Here are some basic service manual excerpts, it should get you through.
The screws you're working with are actually on the front cabinet frame and on the bottom of the upper front panel.

FRONT PANEL AND PANEL SEAL
a. While supporting the lower access panel, remove two screws from bottom edge of lower access panel,

b. Gently lower the access panel to disengage guide lugs from bottom edge of front panel.
c. Remove two screws holding bottom tabs on front panel to dryer side panels,
Swing bottom of front panel away from dryer far enough to disengage hold-down clips and guide lugs from cabinet top.

d. Disconnect wires from door switch .
e.
Disconnect wires to cylinder light (if applicable).
f. Disconnect wires from moisture sensor (if applicable).
g. Disengage belt from motor and idler pulleys,

h. Remove four screws holding bulkhead to front flange of cabinet and lift complete bulkhead assembly out of slots in cabinet.

Good Luck,
