Model Number: ALG443RAW Brand: Amana Age: 5 - 10 years
My Amana Dryer ALG443 Raw does not stop as well as timer does not move in Auto/Delacate mode.It stops when I move manually to stop position. Drying is ok in this mode and timed dry. I ran dryer after taking out the feed to blower housing but never solved. I checked the cycling thermostat for continuity and it reads 00.5 ohm resistance. That means I think the thermostat is ok. Any one has answer for this problem. Highly appreciate ur posting.

The cycling thermostat works as a switch. It switches the power between the heating circuit and the timer motor. At the start of the cycle it should have a closed circuit between the terminals 1 & 3, providing the power to the gas valve components through the high limit thermostat. After the temperature in the dryer riches the proper level, the cycling thermostat opens the circuit between the terminals 1 & 3, and closes the circuit between the terminals 1 & 2, providing the power to the timer motor.
The question is: how did you check the cycling thermostat? In addition, if the vent line is clogged or the blower wheel is not working properly then the dryer will overheat and the heating circuit will be interrupted by the high limit thermostat instead of the cycling thermostat without sending the power to the timer motor. The first thing I would do is make sure there is no air flow restrictions. If this is not the issue then I would replace both the cycling and high limit thermostats. The very last thing I would suspect is the timer (unless there is no continuity in the timer motor circuit). - The part number for the cycling thermostat is AP2402249 - The part number for the high limit thermostat is AP4290151 Gene.

Thanks Gene.
My recycle thermostat is mounted on the blower housing on a heater thermostat (Bias heater). I checked with a digital meter and showed 00.5 ohm between 1 & 2 and 1 & 3 (1 being power). I cleaned the vent and ran without lint collector connected to the blower housing. Does my model have a moisture sensor if so where can I locate it? Because I understand a faulty sensor may result in Timer not advancing and not stop the dryer. Drying is fine in Auto & Timed only the timer does not advance and stop the dryer after proper drying. My timer is fairly a new one. |
