Question Drum drags and stops
Model Number: FER341AC0   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
I have a dryer that I just replaced the felt to the front of the drum and it still does it. When I put it all back together I can push up on the drum and there is a bit of play the drum goes up about 1/2" or so. Is there barings in the back that are bad???? Or what???

Jimmy,

There is a rear drum bearing (hitch ball) and most likely it's worn out. You can find the complete teardown instructions in the Service manual.

Here are the break down diagrams and the parts list for the Frigidaire dryer Model FER341AC0

Gene.

Default dryer vibrates

I replaced the Bearing kit, with the hitch ball etc. The dryer will start up and then about 1 minute later the machine vibrates tremendously and moves across the floor. I shot it off and start it again and again it runs nice for about 1 minute and then starts to vibrate tremendously. Any more help would be great. Thanks

Probably something wrong with the front felts and glides. Read what the Service manual says about it and double check everything.

Gene.
Did you lubricate the rear bearing?

Default felts and glides

The bearing is lubed well. The felts are new. Are the glides supposed to have any play in them when on the drum or are they to be tight to the drum? Is there any way the drum could be out of balance?

I know you've replaced the felts. I meant to double check the installation in accordance to the Service manual. Very little play for the glides is normal.

Gene.

Default felts

I checked the Service Manual and all it says is "To replace the seal pull the seal off and glue the replacement to the rim." When I replaced the felts I placed the new ones in the exact place the old ones where at. There is no play in the glide it is like it was fused to the drum. The Service Manual did not give me to much information regarding the replacing of componants.

Check the idler pulley. Make sure you put back all together correct. Otherwise i do not see what can cause it.
