Hi
I'm working on a Whirlpool dryer (LER4634EQ2). Everything seems to work fine on it accept for the auto dry. The clothes will many times come out still wet or damp when set on "auto dry".
The timed drying works fine, So I'm guessing the timer is ok??
Also the heating element seems to heat up properly.
My thought was that there must be some kind of humidity sensor on it going bad or something, but I have no proof of any such thing.

You do not have a moisture sensor
Timer switch 0 is shown in the timed dry mode.
The way it works is that the timer motor gets power only when the heater is off. The resistor drops the 240 volts to 120 for the timer motor.

In auto modes does it complete the cycle?
Could be the heater is turning off too often so your auto cycle is faster that it should be. Usually an air flow problem.
Clean and check the blower wheel.

Vent Check
Undo the dryer from the exhaust
Run a load
If the load dries correctly then you have a vent problem.
Clean/check the vent system. Make sure the outside louvers open fully.

If you do not want lint in the house.
Take a pair of pantyhose, put one leg into the other and attach this to the dryer exhaust.
Leave enough room behind the dryer so it can blow out like a windsock.
Run a load.

Both the above will allow you to check the air flow and temp.

My 1st thought when this problem started months ago was that the vent was getting clogged. (This "auto dry" has not been working for weeks). So, serveral weeks ago I did make sure that all lint was out of the duct line, the hose connected from the dryer was not kinked in any way, & the louvers on the outside vent opened properly. I also had removed the white control panel making sure there was no dust clollected around the timer, etc. But I have not worked on it in weeks now.
The "auto dry" cycle is not always consistent. What it will do is stop mid cycle before the clothes are dry. But then yesterday, for example, it acted as if there were no problem & completed the auto dry cycle with clothes coming out dry. That is just an example of it's inconsistency.

If the dryer stops mid-cycle (the timer stays in the mid cycle,and wont move) replace both the timer and the little white Thermal fuse on the back of the dryer, just ran into this on a customers dryer(TOOK ME 3 trips to get it Rite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Now its fine!!!!
