The dryer makes no unusual sounds, however ,it does not dry clothes. The burner ignites when it first starts but must apparently stop at some point during the cycle. Is there a way to see if and when it turns off? If it is indeed not working, what should be done?

If you look to the lower left of the dryer door, you will find a square plug that can be removed so you can watch the burner operate. If you find the igniter glows and the gas ignites once or twice then the burner stops igniting even with a glowing igniter, then you probably need a Coil kit (gas valve) - 2 coils installed. Easy to do once the front panel is replaced. The coils will become weak with age and may only open for a couple ignition cycles, then they won't open again until they cool down.
