Default Automatic Permanent Press Cycle fails to shut off
Model Number: DBXR453ET5WW   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Dryer runs continously on automatic permanent press cycle, does not shut off when the clothes are dry. It does shut off on timed cycle though.

Does the timer advance on the automatic cycle or it stays at the same point? Does it stop if you move the timer knob to the "off" position manually?
Gene.

It does stop if you move the knob to the off position manually. I don't know if the knob advances on the automatic cycle.

Most likely the problem is a bad timer. It's not repairable and has to be replaced.
For the future references here are break down diagrams for the GE dryer Model DBXR453ET5WW
Good luck.
Gene.
