Our Kenmore stackable gas dryer tumbles, but no heat. According to the owners use and care guide, the troublshooter says if one of the two house fuses in the dryer circuit is blown, there will be no heat, and to replace the fuse. There are no diagrams showing "house fuses". Where are these "house fuses" located? We took the dryer apart... and removed the "thermostat, control", part #131637800. we did a search on applicancepartspros.com and were able to find a list of parts for this model. yay! the only "thermal" part we found was this "thermostat, control". Is this the same as a "thermal fuse"? we've done extensive research, including paying a visit to Sears Repair Center, and searching libraries for repair manuels. Still confused as which way to go with this.

thanks in advance

What we need to do is have you take the front off, and see if the ignitor is coming on. Also do you have a meter? Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Dryer is apart, front is off. does it need to be hooked up to gas valve to check ignitor? Where is the ignitor? and is there a repair manuel for this model? Kenmore/Frig. #417.79042991...this is a stackable gas dryer. Are "thermal fuses" only found on electric dryers? yes, have a meter.

It does not have to be hooked up to gas to check the ignitor. There is no thermal fuse on this product. This is a frigidaire made Kenmore. See if the ignitor comes on, if it does, then replace the coils on the gas valve. If it does not, unplug the dryer, and take the 2 wires off of the flame sensor, and jump them out, and put some tape around it, so it does not hit metal, and then plug it in, and see if the ignitor comes on. If it does, replace the flame sensor, if it does not, replace the ignitor. Also check the high limit thermostat on the flame tube, and make sure it has continuity. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

As per your last reply, I tested igniter, showed 56.4 ohms, then tested flame sensor and it has continuity. Did as you advised, and started the dryer with no gas, and the front off saw the igniter glowing. When you talk about checking the high limit thermostat, are you talking about the thermostat control #131637800? If you are, how do I test that? I tested continuity between inner prongs and outer prongs no continuity. Any other suggestions? John

John, good job!! So we have the ignitor coming on. That means the sensor is good, and that no gas is coming out of the gas valve. I would replace the coils on the gas valve. 95% of the times, the coils are all you need. Every once in a while you need the whole valve. The thermostat you checked shows fine. Tom
