I need to replace the gas dryer door switch.The existing switch has lost its
spring action and does'nt stop the drum from turning when the door is opened.How do i lift the top.toaccess the switch.

Remove the lint filter from the housing,on the top of the cabinet, you'll find 2 phillips head screws under the filter, remove the 2 screws. Insert a putty knife or small screwdriver into the seam between the dryer top and front panel and pry up and out, on each corner and the top will release from the retainer clips, and you can raise the top, to access the door switch and wiring. It'll be a tight squeeze, so you may want to remove the 2, 1/4 in. screws from the cabinet front flange, approximately 3 inches down from the top on the inside of the front panel.

*** make sure you unplug the power cord, or turn the power off to the dryer, before you start.***

That should get you where you need to be.
