Model Number: LGR4634JQ1 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
This Whirlpool gas dryer has the automatic setting as well as the simple timer.
After starting the dryer, I took out the small plug that enables you to watch the burner. The burner lit normally, ran for a while, shut off, then came back on and ran for a while. However, some time after it obviously stops doing this because a full load of clothes will take litterally hours and hours to dry. Also, if you put the timer in one of the automatic ranges, it never advances, it will run until you stop it. Thanks in advance for any help. EDIT; BTW the vent used is the solid variety. You might have venting problems. Watch the flame, it should show a good airflow and the flame shoud be bluish. If yellow and "lazy", you have a venting problem.

You could also have a weak secondary coil on the gas valve. If the vent is clear, I would replace the coils on the gas valve. Tom ********************************************

Thank you for your replies. I checked and the flame is a nice solid blue so I think I'll try the coils.
There are 2 correct? I wish this model had a lower front panel, but I guess I'll need to pull it out and go through the back. |

Well, that went easy, good opportunity for a thorough cleaning too.
Drying a load of laundry as I write this and I can tell already it is much hotter than it has been. The only question now is whether the timer will move in the auto mode. Thanks very much for your help, I hope that "karma" thing is real, good things should happen to you kind folks. |
