I've tested the outlet and the dryer is getting power but will not work. The light isn't even coming on. Is there a way I can test the timer or push to start relay myself without calling a repair man.

How did you check the power?
The reason I ask is that you say the light will not come on.
I assume this is the interior drum light.
If it worked before and does not work now it is either the door switch is shot OR you have a power problem OR it burned out coincidentally.

If you just measured from L1 to L2 and got 240 volts, this does not eliminate a power problem as a cause. You also have to check L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral for 120 volts on each side. Your motor runs on 120 volts.

Turn the breaker Off/On a couple times slowly, sometimes you can loose Neutral without actually tripping the breaker.
