Dryer Repair

I have a Amana gas dryer on which the flame comes on for 20 seconds, goes out and comes back on after 2 minutes, goes out after 20 seconds and this goes on and on. The timer does not advance. The blower fan is loose. If I hard wire the limit thermostat the flame stays on. Can someone offer some guidance, please? Thank you....

If the flame stays on when I hard wire the thermostat, does that rule out bad coils? Can an inoperative fan cause the flame to come on and off? Sorry but that is probably why amateurs like me should not be on this forum.
